Superwife - Camo belt - D

My wife of 8 years and mother of our three kids. She started TKD after the birth of Odie, our third child.

Princess - Camo Belt - D

Our seven-year-old daughter. She was originally supposed to be a spectator to Cowboy, but jumped in and has proven to have an incredible talent for the martial arts.

Cowboy - Camo Belt - D

Our six-year-old son. He is small for his age, so starting him in TKD is what got us into this mess. He is very close to our Chief Instructor, and his spirit is twice as big as he is.

Odie

Our youngest son, born in April of 2006. By the time he is old enough to start, we should all be Black Belts.

Welcome to Class

Well that went well.

I'm a little sore today from some twisting moves that we did last night but overall I was pretty pleased with how I hung in there. The usually heavily populated class was empty, with just SW and I with some 12-year-old kid. We worked on:

Round house kick
Pivot footwork/Pivoting followed by roundhouse kick
Forms (I think it was Songham 2): Double(Outer?) Arm Form Block, move forward to front stance, front kick to forward stance, slide back to back stance. He wasn't very clear what exactly we were working towards.

All in all I had a blast. Looks like something we'll keep doing.

First Class

Well tonight's the night.

I tried on my Gi last night and looked like the abominable snow man. I've been trying to get in shape to get ready for this--I guess tonight we'll see how in shape I really am.

Princess and the Cowboy got their Orange Belts on Tuesday--still no Black Belt Club for Cowboy. I don't thinkhe noticed but I was pretty disappointed. For his age/size he's the most attentive and determined kid in there. Maybe next time.

Purpose

This blog is a journal of my journey. Not a journey that is strange to me, but one that I have taken several times before and failed. It is my journey to learn the Martial Way, through the art of Tae Kwon Do.

And so it begins....
